Introducing, Our Very First Supper Club
It's Supper Club Time + a last minute spot on the Jordan trip
I’m sitting in my student apartment in Muscat, Oman. It’s a bit bare. There’s no art on the walls because it’s student (read temporary) housing, but it’s wild to think about how comfortable I’ve gotten here in just a little bit over a month. How much more I feel at home. How attuned I am to the sounds of this building, the way the pipes above me creak around 10:30 or 11:00 every night, right when I’m trying to go to sleep, and how the light in the morning is so, so bright. Thank God I brought my eye mask.
Ramadan has also started, which means just as I was getting used to life here, everything shifts. The days are quieter, but the nights are longer and more vibrant.
Last night I sat in a cafe well past midnight. It was as busy as if it were the middle of the day, with people enjoying their first weekend of Ramadan, their first few days of not only fasting but of hope and community and duty and all of the myriad of aspects of this holy month.
This trip has been so challenging and so beautiful in so many ways. Once I’ve processed more of it, I can’t wait to share, but it’s going to take me a minute, because there is so much I want to say about this place.
And speaking of trips, we had a cancellation on our Jordan trip happening end of March.

There’s now 1 spot available in a shared room. I know the timeline is tight, but I wanted to offer it here before it goes wide. Jordan is a really special place and after living there for 2.5 years and tweaking and iterating to make this trip the best it can be, I can confidently say this is going to be an incredible experience. And, since it’s last minute af, you can take $500 off with the code: LASTMINUTE
Now for our very first Supper Club!
For our very first Supper Club experience, I’m keeping it close to home in DC. We’re going to Perry’s, a neighborhood restaurant that I love so much.
Under the leadership of Chef Masako, it has come to embody the kind of Japanese food I deeply resonate with. Japanese comfort food. The kind of cooking that is so simple and also elevated at the same time, with dishes you may not have experienced in Japanese restaurants in the U.S. before.
And yes, there is sushi, but there is so much more than that!
I cannot wait to dine with you.
I feel like I should have something more profound to say here. Supper Club matters to me. Jordan matters to me. This trip to Oman matters to me. But I’m tired. I’m sitting in my student apartment eating a croissant with a fork and knife because I don’t want flakes everywhere. That’s where I’m at.

Nice! Wish I lived closer so that I could attend. I’m sure it’s gonna be amazing! Can’t wait to see pics.
